viva las vegas: moz + cosmo edition
November 24, 2011 by cash

With “Return To The Pyramid” (see here) getting closer by the hour (21 to go, but who’s counting) two exciting developments have me squinting at the clock even harder. Both have to do with the Morrissey concert tomorrow night.
Seeing Morrissey is always a treat (see here). I’ve been to seven shows across four states in the last two decades, and he never fails to amuse and inspire. Judging by recent set lists from this tour, however, I’m in for a birthday show fit for a Cash. I mean king. Same diff.
Oldies, goodies, and everything in between…
OLD FAVORITES:
I Want The One I Can’t Have
Everyday Is Like Sunday
You Have Killed Me
Maladjusted
Ouija Board, Ouija Board
Speedway
NEVER SEEN LIVE:
You’re The One For Me, Fatty
Alma Matters
Meat Is Murder
I Know It’s Over (literally in my top 5 moz / smiths tracks of all time)
Still Ill
Satellite Of Love
There’s bound to be some surprises too, as he often adds a few new songs as the tour progresses.
The second exciting development?
The venue.
Last time I saw Morrissey in Las Vegas, he played the House of Blues @ Mandalay Bay. A decent room. Intimate, with good sound and sight lines (if you could make it out of the mosh pit. Yes, I said mosh pit. At a Morrissey concert. Muy loco Latino fanboys from L.A. go on with your rockabilly thug selves)
Anyway, this time he’s playing a far classier joint, at the newly opened Cosmopolitan.
Having not been to Vegas since it debuted, I didn’t know what to expect.
If the jaw droppingly awesome commercials are any indication, the entire hotel, let alone the theatre, is gonna be Cash Mutha Phukkin Approved, indeed.
If watching these clips doesn’t give you chills, I’m not sure we can be friends.
Stay tuned to @cashapalooza for updates all weekend.
Viva Morrissey.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Cash.
