watch for the signs - pyramid power

June 11, 2011 by cash

I’ve always had a strange, sexy relationship with pyramids.  I’m no Egyptologist, by any stretch, but something about ancient Egypt in general and pyramids specifically has always fascinated me.  What’s weird is how, looking back, they’ve always had a very tangible role in my life.

From the interior architecture of my sweet Capitol Hill apartment (featuring no less than five pyramids, built into the place), to my repeated stays at the Luxor in Las Vegas (always the pyramid rooms!! Up yours, “tower suites”) to my fixation with documentaries on the subject (current favorite, the jaw dropping “Pyramid Code” series, available now on Netflix) pyramids have always been a wonderful part of Cash Life.

Thinking back, it’s interesting to recognize the pyramid that started it all.  The very first one I was blessed with.  It came to me in the form of one the best gifts I’ve ever received.  Simple, sublime, significant.

Thousands of miles from home, deep in the simmering south, a small, smartly wrapped package. Purple paper and satin bow.  I had no idea what to expect.  Nonetheless, seeing her eyes electric with anticipation, my heart was racing.

Opening it?

The gorgeous porcelain pyramid you see below.  An incense burner.  A pyramid. A hint.

It meant a lot then.  It means so very much more now.  What’s funny is, this wasn’t the only pyramid this marvelous girl ever gave me.  Months later, she pulled one out of thin air.  Like magic.  I’ll save that story for another time.

Consider this a heartfelt thank you, my dear southern belle.  My eyes are finally opening.  Slowly.  But surely.

In related news?  Sometimes, I’m almost too dense to live.  Case in point?  The Daft Punk Pyramid Show.  If you haven’t heard, I kinda liked it.  (See here.)  Not until recently though, did I realize its true significance.

Let me put it to you this way.  It wasn’t a performance.  It was a prophecy.

Prepare yourselves, dear readers.

Someday you’ll see what I mean.

yours in pyramids and possibilities,
