Denver area DJ, living legend, and all around master pimp Michael Trundle (aka Boyhollow) seems to have the midas touch. In addition to opening for such heavyweights as Steve Aoki, LCD Soundsystem and MSTRKRFT and playing some of the biggest festivals in the world (Lollapalooza, Winter Music Conference, Electric Daisy Carnival) he also helped bring the mile high city’s mecca of high-proof-hipster-hijinks, Lipgloss, to life.
So what’s a boyhollow who’s already proven himself an indispensable influence on the scene do next?
Drop another kick ass, must see night of cheap booze and booty shaking on our unsuspecting asses.
Scumbag Sundays @ Shag Lounge feels like Lipgloss’s slutty step-sister. Cheap beer, no cover, and a stripper pole is a good start. Michael’s insanely eclectic, crowd calibrated sets provide the finishing touch.
Never in my life would I have imagined, or believed, mixing deadmau5 into Bobby Brown could not only work, but positively kill. Later in the night I was treated to a dubstep mashed version of Aoki’s “Pursuit Of Happiness” remix, in addition to Robyn’s “Konichiwa Bitches”, a track I’d mentioned liking to him a half hour before he played it.
The gorgeous girls, $2 PBRs and copious, comped Kamikaze shots made me happy. Seeing a brilliant DJ bring sinfully sweaty, booze soaked joy to a motley crowd of tattooed youth, on a Sunday night?
Made me happier.
Congratulations on another win boyhollow. I don’t know what Denver did to deserve you, but I hope we keep on doin it.
