that joke isn’t funny anymore - tourette’s syndrome
March 4, 2010 by cash
Holy. Freaking. Hell. The scariest thing I’ve seen in weeks? Months? Maybe a year? Some sweet looking old lady. Having an honest to gawd Tourette’s attack. I’m not gonna lie to you; like most people, I’ve always considered TS hilarious. One of my favorite scenes in “Not Another Teen Movie’ is the cheerleader tryout with the curse-tastic breakdown of one of the competitors. It looks pretty damn funny in the movies. In reality? Not so much.
This lil old lady, grocery bags in hand, waiting for the mall ride. Normal by all outward appearances. Started. Suddenly. To growl. Like an angry animal. That’s the only way I can describe it. A terrible mish mash of expletives, random screams and deep, menacing groans, punctuated with occasional lucidity.
It didn’t sound like “words” were trying to come out of her.
It sounded more like someone… or something.. was trying to speak… through her.
It gives me chills even now, to type.
I can’t imagine what she was going through.
Here’s hoping I can find a cure.
(Or ear plugs.)
(And a blindfold.)
Yikes.
