perfect timing
February 21, 2010 by cash
People love fucking with themselves. Nowhere is this more apparent than in their pessimistic perception of luck, fate and opportunity. Newsflash: You control all three. Every second. Of every day. Of your life. The most important element of this control? One of the only things on earth you actually CAN control; your attitude. I’ve talked about it before (see here), but have a new example for you:
All. Timing. Is. Perfect.
What the hell am I talking about? Glad ya asked. One thing I hate hearing, and no longer allow myself to say, is any variation on this:
“This couldn’t have come at a worse time.”
“Our timing sucks…”
“If only this could have waited until….”
Guess what? It couldn’t. Wouldn’t. Didn’t.
Whatever ‘it’ is, it happened when it happened.
Now, you’re forced to deal with it. You have two choices; You can throw your hands up in despair, lamenting the chronological chaos that “did this to you”. Or, you can start looking. For what? The escape hatch. The secret opportunity. The unseen perk. Of “this” happening. More importantly, of this happening.. Right. Now. I’m a huge believer in the age old maxim “everything happens for a reason” (see the 7th Commandment Of Cash for details) but I’m also a big believer in this.. “everything happens.. when it happens… for a reason.”
A good reason.
For me.
Why?
Because I fucking said so, that’s why.
Seriously. It’s that simple.
I believe things are happening, exactly when they do, for a very important reason. This reason always has a positive potential outcome for me. If I can find it. If I believe it’s there. Somewhere. Buried beneath all the pain, anxiety, problems and general crap that surround a situation where I’m forced to look.
I’m an excellent investigator in this regard.
I’ve found my purple lining in some pretty menacing clouds. Getting fired. A girlfriend cheating on me. Going to detox. In every single case, something significantly beneficial came out of the experience. I was better after than I was before. Stronger. Smarter. More at peace. Sometimes, these are tangible blessings; a better job. A more enchanting girlfriend. Half a bottle of whiskey waiting for me at home.
Other times? They’re far more mysterious. Lessons learned. Perceptions altered. Preparations in place for future rewards I’m not quite ready to receive right now.
It could be anything. Regardless of what it ends up being, I’ll find it. A way to make this experience worth it.
To make this timing.. perfect.
For instance? Something in my life right now. I knew it was coming. I always believed. No one else did. I’d expected it. Hoped for it. Earlier. Much earlier. If it had come then, during a certain window of opportunity? It could have changed my life. For better? For worse? I’m not sure. What I am sure about? It’s happening now, and not then, for a reason. A good reason. For Cash.
All. Timing. Is. Perfect.
It’s up to you to figure out how.
